Lund Studentteater's Play "Elizabeth"

On Monday Spring made its triumphant return to Skåne after spending the weekend in Majorca.

Chicco's greeted Spring
with a new outdoor seating area

But note, that they still provide an orange blanket on each seat just in case a customer gets a chill.

Elizabeth

As I noted in yesterday's post, Lund University's Lund Studentteater were going to act in an English language play, "Elizabeth".

Their flyer promised ". . . sex, murder, cross-dressing, dancing, laughter and love . . ."

What was not to love about this night at the theater?

The play was adapted from the 1998 movie script for Cate Blanchett's version of "Elizabeth".

I bought the first ticket sold at the box office!

Ah, The Arts!

It was a fun performance!

Since this play featured Lund University students from several nations, it made for some interesting and memorable perfomances.

The young lady seen in this poster did a fantastic job as Elizabeth.

The young fellow who played Sir Francis Walshingham looked something like a young Peter O'Toole in "Lawrence of Arabia" and did a splendid job as the nefarious Walshingham.

The actor who played the French Duke d'Anjou was a riot and stole the show as Elizabeth's cross-dressing potential suitor.

If you have ever seen any of the Marx Brothers' movies, you know that in each and every one of them Harpo will play a harp solo and Chico will do the same on a piano. In both cases, it always has nothing to do with the plot. Ditto tonight for the dance solo that started the Second Act.

Don't get me wrong, she was a good dancer, but what did it have to do with the play???

Overall, it was a GOOD night at the theater and well worth the price of admission!

Yet another reminder the Laurie is still seven weeks away from getting to Hassleholm.
